We are proud to have supplied our high-quality aluminium football goals to the Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield. The Park is based on land formerly occupied by the Don Valley Athletics Stadium which hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 1991 World Student Games and was where Sheffield born Helen Sharman, the first UK Woman astronaut, carried the torch to light the flame.
Olympic Gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill was based and trained there throughout her illustrious career before retiring. The venue also acted as a temporary venue for Rotherham United FC prior to completion of the New York Stadium.
Now with major investment, great planning and co-operation amongst key organisations within Sheffield we have a facility in Sheffield to match the best in the UK. The Legacy Park stands proud in Sheffield S9 and contains an Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre an indoor sports arena, the Oasis Academy and a University Technical College (UTC) backed by Sheffield College and Sheffield Hallam University. Its spacious grounds boast a state of the arts synthetic competition and training facility used by various user groups for a variety of sports including major sports football and rugby.
This facility at the Legacy Park will be a major player in the City’s programme for providing and developing grass route and elite sports in South Yorkshire.
What Goalfix supplied
The Goalfix Sports Mini Soccer and Junior 9v9 goals provide the final touch to this facility. The Goalfix Sports goals, made in Sheffield, not only look good and stand proud but are safe, secure and reliable.
Easy to move, they are a delight for use both for competition games and for training and coaching programmes. With fully welded side frames the goals avoid the mechanical problems experienced by other types of goals that rely on a multiplicity of nuts and bolts. The netting does not rely on grooves or other hanging devices in the posts but is reliant on the tri-clip, a modern securing system exclusive to Goalfix Sports. These facts make the Goalfix goals popular with schools, Colleges, Universities, local authorities and of course junior and senior football clubs.
